Frequently asked questions

General Medicine
  • Are the doctors available through MediEdge Australian registered? 
  • Yes, all doctors who are available via the MediEdge/MedPortal platform are carefully vetted prior to their initial sign-up to ensure they have Australian registration
  • Why aren’t your consultations fully bulk-billed?
  •  Due to governmental legislation, telehealth consultations are unable to be bulk-billed unless a patient has been seen face-to-face by a doctor in a clinic within the past 12 months
  • Why do I require a Medicare/IHI number to get a prescription with the MediEdge/MedPortal service
  • MediEdge/MedPortal delivers prescriptions electronically (via SMS and email). This model requires validation from the centralised electronic prescriptions vendor in Australia, which in order to ensure accurate and valid prescribing (i.e. to the correct patient), requires an IHI number to link the prescription to
  • Do you have a physical clinic which I can be reviewed in?
  • Yes, our physical clinic is located in NSW, Parramatta. At this stage we are only accepting patients via bespoke bookings. To book a physical consultation, email admin@mediedge.com.au 
  • Are telehealth consultations via phone or a video call
  • At this stage our telehealth consultations are only via phone/audio-only calls. Depending on the doctor, if you require them to visualise something (e.g. a rash), you may be able to send them a photograph of the area.


Sports Medical Coverage
  • Do doctors booked through MediEdge/the MedSport platform come fully equipped?
  • Our NSW based doctors can come fully equipped to your specifications (with the exception of large items such as stretchers, crutches and oxygen cylinders). Defibrillators can be supplied
  • At this stage we have less control over the equipment our interstate contracted doctors wish to bring with them


Joining the MediEdge team
  • What will my capacity in working with MediEdge be?
  • This depends on your role, but generally you will be a contractor of MediEdge if your application is successful
